From the Vermont Medicaid Portal to MAPIR
At the Vermont Medicaid Provider Portal, select "Transactions" and "Login." The direct link to log on is: https://www.vtmedicaid.com/secure/logon.do.
Below is a screenshot of the login page.
SLAIT operates on the principle that the provider has a User ID to access this secure Provider Portal.
The User ID for Web User Accounts on the Secure Vermont Medicaid Portal will be the same User ID as for the Provider Management Module.
If the User ID for the Provider Portal has been forgotten, please contact Gainwell Provider Services at: (800) 925-1706 Option 3, or email: vtedicoordinator@gainwelltechnologies.com.
When the provider logs on to the Vermont Medicaid portal, the option to navigate to the SLAIT system will appear under "Secure Options" on the right of the screen (Connect to SLAIT), as in the screenshot below. The SLAIT system can also be accessed via the blue "Click her to connect to SLAIT" link.
Common Errors and Issues When Connecting to SLAIT
If you get an error message, or are experiencing a problem when accessing SLAIT, it may be a known issue that the VT MDAAP Team has encountered. Below is a list of potential problems, and links to the step-by-step instructions to resolve them.
- You may not have a User ID allowing you to sign in to the Vermont Medicaid provider portal.
- You may have a Vermont Medicaid Portal User ID but, may not see the "Connect to SLAIT" link, OR, once in SLAIT, may not see the provider(s) you are looking for. This could be an issue for a practice where a preparer is doing the actual registration and attestation on behalf of several providers.
- If you are experiencing an issue that does not fit into the above list, please send an email to the MDAAP Team.
1. No User ID
The secure Vermont Medicaid Portal requires a user to have a registered account. There are two types of accounts: Web User Account and Trading Partner Account. A Web User Account grants access to SLAIT, PDF Web Remittance Advices, Claim Status and Program Eligibility for a single Enrolled Provider within the secure Portal environment. A Trading Partner Account grants the same access as a Web User Account, plus allows for the exchange of X12N Claims, Remittance, Eligibility and Claims Status Transactions. A Trading Partner Account may have multiple Enrolled Providers associated with the account for the functionality listed above.
- If you are uncertain if you have a Web User Account, please email vtedicoordinator@gainwelltechnologies.com for assistance.
- To establish a Trading Partner Account to manage multiple enrolled Providers, navigate to the Medicaid Portal HIPAA Tools page to complete a Trading Partner Agreement and an EDI Registration form.
- On the EDI Registration Form, In Part 1b, be sure to also check Other (Describe) and write SLAIT in the right column.
- Email completed PDF forms to the Gainwell EDI Coordinator: vtedicoordinator@gainwelltechnologies.com

2. Cannot See the Connect to SLAIT link or Cannot Find a Provider ID in SLAIT
If you are a preparer attesting on behalf of a practice or provider, your Trading Partner ID and User ID both need to be associated with those of the practice or provider for whom you are submitting a MDAAP Incentive Payment application. To manage the practice/provider names associated with your User ID, follow these instructions:
- Navigate to the Medicaid Portal HIPAA Tools page to complete an EDI Registration form.
- In Part 1a, fill in your group name and primary contact information.
- In Part 1b, check “Other(Describe)” and write SLAIT in the right column.
- Under “Transactions,” check “276/277 Claim Status Inquiry/Response.”
- On page 3 under Part 2, enter your Trading Partner ID in the upper left corner.
- In the Provider ID column, list each of the Vermont Medicaid Provider IDs and names of all the providers you need to add for the purposes of preparing MDAAP applications.
- Each provider's signature must be entered in the designated column.
- Email completed PDF forms to: Gainwell's EDI Coordinator at vtedicoordinator@gainwelltechnologies.com
